I am about to swap in a 360 in a 76 cherokee in place of the orginal 6cyl. I have been told that the 6cyl sits farther back than the V8s. Is this going to cause any issues for me?

What else is different besides the motor mounts?

You will have many differances, wiring, exhaust, radiator and core support, driveshafts will also need to be changed. You will have to move the Trany/T-Case X-Member forward to the next set of holes in your frame for the V8. What Trans do you have?

I doubt the manual driveshafts will help you. You won't be able to move the V8 back to the trans the 5" or so it will need to move, it will hit the fire wall in about 2" You will see when you get into it. I did it once, and if I had not had a complete donor rig for all the parts I needed, it would have been a big pain.

Yeah, my dad and I did a V8 conversion on a 1980 Cherokee, we had to move the tranny forward to the next set of holes on the frame, change driveshafts, radiator, and motor mounts. I think we also relieved the firewall with a big sledge too, or it coulda been cause we were frustrated, I can't remember. . .
