Not much at the moment for me.

Lot of work to do before the Christmas holidays and end of the year.
The new drive line is in and axles are bolted in place on my 73' j4000
The rest of the overhaul/rebuild is going slow because of work and weather and short days.

Also still waiting for the 70' j4000 i bought without seeing it in person two years ago from forum member Compound W

It did arrive in Holland and the container is going to be unloaded one of these days if things go smoothly with customs and paperwork!

Hey, rang - its been a while; lot going on around here. Since last we spoke our youngest (daughter) graduated from U of TN a couple weeks ago - woohoo!

And, we continue to make progress on the GW; a few days ago, a friend of mine found a GW in a local junkyard with a complete, near pristine set of seats & steering wheel in Sand, exactly what we needed. Pulled it & am halfway thru cleaning - had quite a bit of mildew - taking pictures along the way. Post coming soon - waiting for a warm day to finish them up.

I wish I had a proper garage so I could work on the 81 out of the weather.

I cruise the forum most days but don't say much. It's nice to see other projects new and old moving along.

I hope all is well with you Rang.

Since losing my lady in July, and me (almost)10 days later, back on a somewhat even keel. Get 5-8 hours at the shop a month. Other than that just try to stay warm.
Got all the parts to do a complete brake job on the XJ right back to the lines, and complete w/strip for all doors and rear hatch. Just no ambition or desire to get after it.

Looking like I'll probably get screwed on paying off her Equinox.... agreement was if I paid it off, it would be mine. If do will have to see about a court battle to get my 19.5K back.

Presently not a good season or year.

I just happened to check in here since I was looking up info on a rig I bought in '14 that had a lot of build threads posted. I don't check in here much, I'm on FB most days and have most of my J20 build info there. J20 is put away for the winter and I do a fair number of car shows and such with it in the summer, I'm currently looking for a good deal on 315/75/16's for it since I did a lift last spring that came out at about 3.5" and appears the 315's should fit.

I too had a bit of an off summer. Caught covid for the third time and it killed my beloved so sweet wife 65 days ago today. I don't even have words for how it felt to wake up and find her blue and gone. I am hanging in there. I am working night and day on a 68 M715 modern build on 1 ton axles and lots of FSJ parts. It is posted on the zone. Yet another long time old hang out. That and plowing snow almost every day. Rang I built a sweet tall A frame tarp over your future J4000 here in the yard. Snow slides right off.
Protects it from caving in the hood or roof from a poop ton of snow. I hope you still want it this summer. Other than that just trying to pray a lot to find my path forward. I miss my girl so incredibly much. Crazy world we live in now. Glad I am not young.

This year for the wife and I it was Medically a bad year. I had my appendix burst and the Dr didnt provide antibiotics on time-sent me home after 3 days. I returned to the ER 18 hrs later with sever infection in the Liver and lungs. That took 18 days in the hospital to get over. The stress accelerated my wifes heart issues. She had irregular heart rates of 200+ almost daily until her Oblation last month.
However, God is good. We are doing well now, my oldest son got married in May, my youngest son is starting a Mechtronics Amazon apprenticeship in January.
Plus, Ill be marketing the Long Travel FSJ spring kit!!

Oh my, goodness. Art, Al, and Rock, I am so incredibly sorry to hear about the tragedies each of you has suffered this year. My heart breaks and many, many prayers are going to be offered for each of you.

I pray that you find comfort and peace in this Season and healing in the years to come. Goodness, God please bless you, gents.

It's sad and hard to read that some of you have such difficult times in this already weird and confusing times!
I know the feeling that there isn't much important anymore after losing your loved one.

We lost our son Morris a couple hours before birth the 1st of June 2020
The whole pregnancy went smooth and without stress till a couple hours before giving birth.
I can't erase the moment in my head when hearing the nurse say that there wasn't a heartbeat anymore.
A bursted vein in the umbilicle cord cost him his life.
He was our first and probably our only one.

I wish you all the strength and spirit to find a way to live with your loss of a loved one.

Don't know how it is for you others ,but for myself sometimes working on a project makes the head think about other things and giving some kind of recharge!
Well for me it does!

This forum is full of outstanding people. Yes it has been a very tough time frame. For many I see. Keep your faith and know there is a reason. I am also trying. It is so hard.
I am grateful.

Asphaltrockdweller, I got your outstanding PM. I have replied but your box is full. I again say this forum has been a highlight of my jeepin life. And the people here are like family. I shall return with my 69 1414X build hopefully soon. I like it here. One of my many homes.

Onward and upward.

Since my sweetie passed I have been going through absolutely everything in the home. Every drawer, shelf, box the works. I found a Jeeping poem I wrote as a kid. It was lost for just about as long as I can remember. I can pin down the age to 22 or 23 years old. I am 57 now. My family grew sick and tired of me eating breathing jeep. It was all I ever talked about. I have had my 69 CJ-5 for 40 years this year. What can I say, I love jeeps.

kinda silly but what the heck..

If I die before my time
Put me in my Jeep in knee deep slime
Keep me off the hills
And away from those tree's
Just put me in my Jeep
Up to my knee's
See my wheels spin straight and true
Kicking out rocks and flying sticky goo
Make my lights shine long and bright
Deep in the woods in the middle of the night
Help my engine run like a champ
That darn lousy gas pedal
I am going to get a cramp
When I am gone remember who I was
As the guy who loved any Jeep
No reason just because

LOL That was 35 years ago I wrote that. It was a hoot to find it.
Merry Christmas all.

Al

You should frame that poem and put it in your shop, Al.

Wishing a better new year to all.

Yes it's a really nice poem!
And great you did find it back after all those years.

Hope that you stay strong and can find back a rhythm to live for!

Wow! All valid reasons for a lil' quiet time for sure. Al, you should stick that poem in your signature!

I agree with you guys, this place is different. I have been on Geo Metro, Mazdaspeed3, Ford Ranger, and a few other forums, and this one has the most respectful, thoughtful, and caring folks around. Many come and go but the general level is quality.

I finally have my sons Ranger in order (after 4 months of wrenching and $$$$$$$$$$) so I can finally get back to Jeepin'.

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas (despite the horrendous loss many of you have faced) and wish you all a Happy New Year! I hope 2022 is better than we can imagine.

Ha, I should post that poem in the shop. Before it disappears for decades again. I got your PM's Marc. Thank you. Yes funny site we have here.
Suns out and 5 degrees. 2.5 feet of snow and Gods perfection is showing itself.
I am humbled and amazed at it. Have a good day all.

Jeep is running good enough to not worry about, so have been popping in here every few days without much to post.

Big project I'm almost done with is wiring up my recording studio. Have spent the last few months soldering together rack units to process audio (from kits) and fitting to a patch bay. Was worth it - sounds great!

One USB cable away from being done.
