HELP!!! J20 Dana 60 Yoke

Does the Nut that holds the Dana 60 Driveshaft yoke to the diff set the bearing preload? The u-joint went out and buggered up the DS yoke and I need to replace it. I am curious if I take the yoke retainer nut off if it will screw up the bearing preload. Also, how many splines does the pinion yoke have? I need to track down a replacement ASAP.

It's called a crush sleeve and IIRC there is a process to figure the torque to be able to reuse the sleeve but I think typically people replace it with a new one.
If you can figure where to get a thinwall socket to get on that nut let me know... I've been having trouble locating one.

Great. Not exactly what I wanted to hear. There are a couple of drive line shops locally, so I will have to make some calls in the morning. The TSM says to torque the Pinion Retainer nut to 260ft/lbs. Guess I better eat a couple more samiches before I go to torque that bad boy down. If I can find a socket that is.

Elliott I got mine at Autozone believe or not. I do not remember mine having a crush sleeve though. I remember just marking it and putting it back in the same place it was...maybe a 1/16 tighter or so. If the manual says 260ftlbs than it should not have a crush sleeve.
