Common sense isn't common anymore.

Bwahahaha!!!!

That is one unfortunate and expensive learning experience. Some of those other "towing" related articles at the bottom are scary as well.

too common... in the same line as "my engine is noisy"... check your oil level... "How do I check oil level"... can't believe what I read sometimes on some car forums...

that's not "fixing stupid", just the carnage caused by stupid.
The stupid is still there waiting for it's next chance

To paraphrase a former professor of mine regarding a common mistake; you can do this, you'll just get it wrong and lose points, but you can do it.

Yes. I also hear "There is no such thing as a stupid question.." but that is only half the statement. it should be:
These is no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people asking questions.

One thing I like to say when someone asks a question that leaves an opening for a sarcastic answer (after said sarcastic response is shared): Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer.

Also, I agree completely with babywag above:

Are these the same people that thought their RV had an autopilot?

A co-worker showed me that on his phone a few days ago.

To all the people making fun of the person calling them stupid, has anyone thought it could have been a simple accident?
When you tow a manual trans 4x4 vehicle, you want the trans in gear and the transfer case in neutral. That way the output of the trans does not turn, since it does not lube itself if only the output is turned. The transfer lubes itself if the output is turning.
My guess is the person was unfamiliar with their brand new vehicle and thought they shifted the t-case into neutral when they actually (perhaps accidently) shifted it into 4-low.
