What would cause sparking on outside of Sparkplug?

Just pulled a couple spark plugs to see how they were running. They looked good. I re installed and started the engine. Everything was running fine but I noticed one of my spark plugs was arching on the outside of the plug from the boot and grounding on the outside spark plug ground? What would cause this? I think its just one plug but I am going to check tonight when it is dark to see if others are doing the same.

My ignition set up is:

MSD distributor
MSD Super Conductor wires
MSD Coil

cracked boot... or bad plug... the silicone of the boot may have a split... been there... I thought it was the plug... but again putting my hand on the wiring I was shocked... as In Zapped...

Upon closer inspection the Exterior Spark Ceramic was cracked in two places. Must have had a damaged plug from the get go. Replaced it am good to go.

I'd be curious where you bought the plugs. I've heard of many issues with Amazon / Ebay type stuff due to the Chinese flooding the markets with counterfeit plugs. Very common with NGK and other more recent makes and models.

Honestly I can remember where I got them but it would have either been summit or a local parts store. They are NGK FR5's...

All it takes is to drop the spark plug on the ground to make them crack, either by supplier, parts person or you. if I see them drop it I get different one and inspect all of them at the store.

Ive had this happen before, same issue, ceramic was cracked. Took me a bit to find it as it wasn't consistent.

Have you tried a diesel swap? Easiest way to fix this I can think of.
