Question Need advice on 258 / 4.0 swap into V8 j truck

I have a '74 J10 swapped to J20 axles & springs that I would like to drop in a 6 cyl, preferably a 5 speed, and have it 4WD. I plan to crate/store the current powertrain after the swap. Ideally this will be completely analog to avoid as many headaches with sensors/modern tech as possible. Hopefully there won't be any real fabrication that needs to be done and there are 6 cyl engine mounts that bolt in. Has anybody done this before?


To make it even more interesting I would like to swap it to full propane, no dual fuel mess. I already have an LPG set up from a Ford inline 6, a 300 I think, so that should help in that department. If anyone has done this before I would really like your input on this aspect as we'll as no doubt there are differences in how it should be set up for max efficiency Vs doing the swap on a 360 or 401.

When I restored my J10 that already had a 258 I6 I installed J20 axles with 4.1 gears and a T18. If you are wondering about performance: with a mostly stock engine this truck has and will do anything I want however I have been accused of having too much patience.
