Just a quick Q on fan clutch

Before I go back, here's the deal. I figured I should replace my fan clutch, since my GW does run warm when it's hot out, as well as in stop & go traffic. It is 20 years old after all

So I went to Kragen with printout in hand, for a replacement fan clutch for my 1987 Jeep Grand Wagoneer with a 2 bbl 360 (5.9) v8 & AC. All specs look good. The guy comes out with this fan clutch, and I'm like "I don't remember that big nut on it" and he says "oh, well it's a Jeep and they are usually like that". I look at my manual, and the pictures don't show a clutch with a huge nut on the backside... looks more like a 4 bolt flange. Unless the pulley is covering this nut... I think I have the wrong part. So, I look up a 1980 Wagoneer with the same combo; same part number.

I'm hoping someone boxed up the wrong part, or labeled this box wrong, or could I actually have the correct part?

    Thanks in advance,
    Clay

Did you try installing it yet?

If I understood ya right the part that connects the clutch to the pulley is removeable and will swap over from your old one.
You know it's bad when your car's on the EPA's 10 most wanted list!

I haven't tried yet, just because it looks soooo wrong. This new one says it's a "threaded" type fan clutch, reverse threaded nut on the shaft connects to the water pump pulley somehow. The nut is big; I'd say over 1 inch. I think I'm going back to see if they have another one.

      Here's a pic:

      Thanks for the quick reply!

Thanks a bunch. I just wanted to make sure before tearing in, finding the wrong part, reassembing with old parts, and doing it again!

          Thanks,

Sounds like the parts guy checked for an '84 up standard Wagoneer (XJ)

                Tell them you need this:

Don't even tell them what vehicle it's for, just use their part #, it is 2705

I could not help but laugh a little,
The part number on the box is 2705 So I'm hoping someone boxed it wrong. I'm headed back after work today to see what I can find.

                  Thanks for everyone's help!

                    Yeah, um........NOOOOO.
I can tell you unequivicably that is wrong. White '87 GW's have a 4 bolt flange on the water pump.
