Today was a good day

Yesterday I went out and registered the Jeep after 14 months of owning it.Today I went out and got the safety inspection and passed . Finally it's street legal.

When I took it to the inspection station the owner asked what year it was and when I told her it was an 82 she literally jumped back. She was surprised to see in what good condition it was for being 26 years old. Her helper (some kid) enjoyed driving it in the parking lot just to make sure the brakes worked. The kid also complimented me on my ride.

I left with a big grin on my face.

Cool! Now you can park it back in the driveway while you save for a tank of gas! I haven't driven mine in a few weeks. Needs some tires, a fill up, and a gas gauge.

Acutally I've been driving it for the past 3 months. I just replaced my carb last week from a Holley to Edelbrock. So it runs alot better.

Keep forgetting to correct my signature.

I'm glad you were able to avoid getting stopped for driving a non-registered vehicle for the last three months!

Safety inspections really only check for stuff you SHOULD have working, anyway. Such as BRAKES, parking brake (can't depend on your transmission if your t-case or drivelines break), proper lights, etc.

Unless your car is literally falling apart, it should be able to pass.

our inspections are pretty picky. I had my MJ fail because the drivers door had a small ding underneath the rearview mirror.

My XJ on the other hand passed amazingly, and I had to get creative with the sheetmetal on those friggin corners under the back seat. Passed emissions like a dream too.

You should see some of the crap on the roads around here, I would have no problem paying for a safety inspection. Now an emissions test that was to the T about having everything factory reguardless of how clean it burns would not be cool.

Ditto. Both J-10's here are only subject to a safety inspection. If they fail (which they haven't) then they need to get parked.

"You should see some of the crap on the roads around here" as another "troll" I agree. Over in this corner of the state we see all sorts of rambling wrecks on our roads. Unfortunately a lot of'em are from over the border and over the lake. A legitimate and fair safety inspection would improve things, especially if they'd include the drivers too!

Ha! you are the first to say anything about my location description.
But back on topic, some what, the worst offenders have to be in metro Detroit and half of them were bought from the local corner car lot salesman.

I'm not saying inspections would not be a bad idea for SC, there's always some piece of junk broke down blocking a lane of traffic. I'm just saying I'm glad that I don't have to deal with the issue of having to be inspected. I remember in Louisiana, I failed inspection one time cause 1 tire was 1/32 below spec. Made me so mad.
