Took a good drive today...

I'm sitting here in class... I'm working on my administration degree... about 35 miles from the house. I got a wild hair and drove the Cherokee, even though I've not driven it enough since the lift to "trust" it. Well it did great!! Lots more power than I was afraid I would have... it accelerates very well and climbed two long, steep hills without downshifting. I must have 3.54 gears, though I've not checked. Still a little d/s vibration, and I'm quite sure it's coming from the rear. I feel nothing through the steering wheel, but lots of vibration/rattling from the rear (you know, the higher frequency rattling caused by a vibration).

Bottom line is that it did well, and I'm stoked.

One more happy pic:

Looking good.. Its alway fun to take the maiden voyage... Did you get a lot of looks?

Also, you can try some shims under the rear leafs to help rotate the pinion up a bit. That might help with the vibes..

It's already got one... and I'm afraid it may have gotten the ujoints out of phase. It's easier to take the shims out than anything else, so I'll try that first.

Yep, since you already have them, they are probably the problem.. They are for sure if your pinion is pointed straight at your transfer case..

It's pointed DEAD straight at it... I checked it this afternoon. Guess that'll be my big project for next weekend. Gotta get a couple of big C clamps.

Yep, thats the problem. You need a double CV or cardon or whatever shaft (having a brain fart), if your pinion points straight at the TC..

Why do you need big C-clamps?

I assumed that I would need them to clamp the spring pack together while I pull the shims out... I'm going to try that first...

Your springs should have a pin in them which holds them together..

The pin is also holding the shim in... gotta take it loose to get the shim out.

I use to not trust mine to drive around the block, until my old daily driver broke down and had to drive the J to and from work over fifty miles a day, worked great, and never had a problem, until the wipers fell off on the freeway at 60 MPH during a down poor..

This crossed my mind... and I can feel the tires vibrating some from the tread... but this is different. You can really feel the difference in the type of vibration that it is, and it happens at different speeds and not all of them. That "feel", plus the fact that my rearend and my transfer case are at totally different angles, leads me to my conclusion. It won't take THAT long to check it out.

I've already bought the paint... lol... and it's a deeper color, more like a curve or yield sign... not the color of Heimeken's... sorry guys... it'll look good. Plus, you have no idea how bad the brown looks in person. Pics make it look really good, but it's not.
