Chrome Trim Retaining Clips
Restoring my '79 Wag and only one of these clips survived. The rest rusted so much they broke. It's the larger of the two rear window trims.

Great photo.
Looks the same as used in my '85 on the back of the roof and side pillars.
Was looking for a couple myself but didn't find a source.
I did come up with some part numbers.
1981 Parts book (covers through 86]
Clip J400 4902
Looking on-line that p/n leads to these:
Clip J400 6693 Most recent ? 1990-91
Clip J095 8577
Discontinued & none showed any in stock.
In this thread some posted that there is a GM equivalent but I haven't spotted one. I know I looked through restoration Specialties Supply catalogue, but not sure if I looked through Clips and Fastners catalogue.

Maybe.
If not rusted away!
It does seem likely they were used on other makes and models but if so, no one had posted the cross reference.
After you've got what you need, if 80Limited or BabyWag still have a couple leftover, I'ld like to buy them.

Do you know how many were used when built? I don't think it needs a lot of 'em to do the job. If I have left over ones I can send them to you.

I don't know.
and I don't think I took notes on how many I put back.
I'm guessing 2 on each side and no more than 3 on the top.
Maybe Sunday or Monday I can pull the trim off and take a look, although there might have been 1 or 2 so rusted I didn't reinstall.
We can ask in the restoration or general forum.

I parted out a 78 a few years ago and it had a total of 8 clips.

Nograin, 80Limited sent me 10 and I had 1. I'm going to have them powder coated with/when I send my Con-Ferr out here shortly. If all make it through I should have 3 left over. I'll let you know when they are done and if you still need some I can send them your way.

Bluehwy, Thanks I bought some from 80Ltd so I should be OK.
Refinishing seems like a good idea.
I haven't experimented with removing the plastic yet. Did you just peel it off?
Rang-a-stang,
Thank you for taking note and sharing!
Found my scribble, I mean notes, in a folder.
No illustration bu the 1963-65 parts catalog shows a Roof Molding Rear Flange Clip. 961856 for Wagons, 958577 for trucks.
So these clips or a version of them may have been used for the entire run.
