Got paid, so first thing was to fix the box so I can use it again. It has the pull out shelf for my welder.
I got 2 gallons of flat black matte and a gallon of bedliner. Now I just need enough TIME to get it done. She is getting better front fenders and hood, which will give me the bottom front corners of the fenders to finally build a front bumper.
Hoping to get it painted in the next few weeks.

OPINION, what do you guys think of the Dodge mirror? Should i keep trying to mount them, or are they going to look goofy?
I like them for their function, they have always been my favorite out of everything I've ever driven.

It's always good to see pictures of your work truck!
It sucks that someone hit it , but glad you got paid and you could repair it.
Was only the corner of the utility bed hit ,or also some damage to the lower corner of the cab?
And about the mirrors , they look big but if you like them and they work for you
Make them also work on the Jeep truck!

PAINT IT?!?!? WHY?!?!?!? You'll ruin it!
Just kidding, if you are gonna paint it, I am sure it will come out awesome. I absolutely LOVE the look of this truck just the way it is! I just think it looks so cool as is.
I am a function over form person. If you like the mirrors, leave them. One of the old combat rules says "If it's stupid but it works, it isn't stupid". If your mirrors work, don't try to fix them.

Holy moly that's looking good!
Are you going to do something with the wheels to?
Maybe also painting them black.
Or in white for some contrast!?

Yes, she got the rocker, bottom of door, and cab corner. We fixed the door and cab corner, but there's rust in the rockers that will have to be dealt with in a few years. But as a work truck, I don't expect it to be pretty for ever.

I had made arrangements to have them powder coated flat black, but didn't get them ready before the tires arrived and was impatient to get them on. At this time, they will stay like this as I focus on other items like front bumper, oba, bedliner, etc.
Thanks, I've always got a smile when driving it, now it's going to be a grin...

I know that feeling!
Did drive my 73' j4000 for thirteen years as a daily work truck!
with lots of smiles and grins for the sounds of the AMC V8 through the sidepipes.
The engine got tired and before it completely broke I parked it and now it's under the knife for a complete overhaul and drivetrain upgrade.
12 valve Cummins with nv4500/np205 are in with dana 60&70 axles.
Also have a utility bed on the way from California to replace the original bed.
Always liked your Jeep truck with the utility bed.
And through the years i came to the conclusion that a utility bed could be very handy for me work as a Farrier.
So that is the reason I'm copying your idea , hope that it's okay by you!?

Holy drool!!! That looks soooooooo good! My vote is bright red wheels. I am not a big fan of black vehicles with black rims. I think black needs either white, chrome or polished, or red rims. The red pseudo matches the tail lights and really look good. Black with red, who is with me?

Maybe a bit to much hot rod , but it could look good too!
(Had a rusty 85' Volkswagen rabbit pickup painted flat black with red rims ,it was always a eye-catcher!
I'm really interested to see what style of front bumper it's gonna get!
I like the stock number , but then more beefed up and with a mount for a winch.

Jeff ,if you have your beast of a truck totally back together and all the work tools in place it would be nice to see some pictures of your daily workplaces with the truck!

Will see what I can do. I try to keep focused on the task at hand (last 2 days was replacing grout) and not screw around much.
The rims will stay chrome, no plan for red, not a color I'm a fan of. I actually thought about a black satin stripe, but doubt I will. Anything cosmetic will be a little while away, I have to reseal the hydroboost, install the new steering box, rebuild the alternator mount, brakes...
Thanks guys, it's a lot of fun to drive.

Not much to update visually.
Got the inside of the bed and leading edge of the boxes bedlined, when weather is right I'll do the rockers as well.
Just replaced the steering box with a Borgensen HD box, new power steering pump, and rebuilt the hydroboost chasing slop and leaks. Next will be to upgrade the steering links.
Got a second Sanden compressor just like the original plugged, greased, and ready to weld mounts onto the plate I mounted on the engine. Air tanks are ready to install, just need time, lol... This will give me the ability to dump my airbags when I roll up to a job so I can see into the top boxes, and air up for the road.
It will also need rear shocks. Can anyone with experience suggest a heavy duty shock that might last hauling 9k#s daily?

Did some searching for good performing shocks and came to the conclusion that Bilstein shocks are good quality and performing well and still affordable prices.
Have no personal experience with the Bilstein shocks ,but I'm looking for some shocks for me j4000 that is getting a utility bed.

It currently has Bilsteins on it, it's what was on the Dodge I used. I will more then likely go with the same that's on it.
I did get a Cadillac air compressor mounted and working, I can now adjust the bags on the fly. It helps a lot.

Bilsteins are what I went with also, 77sj. I like their firm ride.
