    Valve cover tag code?

I was reading up on valve cover tags and according to the two place I found that have code explanations, my code is incorrect. My code is 203p08. This code signifies a 1969 or 1978 AMC 360 with a 4bbl intake (which were only supposed to be made from 70-77), made on Mach 8th. Just thought this was an interesting discrepency and I was wondering if anyone else has had an issue such as this?

Where did you see this discrepancy? It's clearly a '78, since your Jeep is a '78 model.

Where's the problem? 1978 was the last year of the 4v 360 and a motor built Mar78 would go into a 78 model year.

All the info I've seen is that the code letter "P" means a 4bbl 360. Mines bone stock and all original as far as I know and its out of a 79 and only has a 4bbl. If I remember correctly, the heads had an odd casting number on them as well... wish I still had them around to check. Just thought it was odd I guess

I dunno what AMC did with Rambler cars but FSJ's used the 4v 360 through 1978.
