Question

Has anybody ever run into two different wheel bearings being used on the same axle?I started out replacing a broken wheel stud on the drivers side and figured "Since I'm in here"I'll replace the wheel bearings. When I tore it down the actual bearings and races were not what was supposed to be in there. The inner race was larger with a small bearing.DSPO!!!!That was two weeks ago.I ordered the matching Bearings and races for the inner and went to install them and all went well till I removed the pass.side and found it had the correct size for the axle so back to the parts store.I now have a spare inner for the drivers side.It appears that a D-44 outer was installed on the D-27.Is that acommon swap? Sorry this ran on.

It can happen. They even used two different size spindle sizes for the D44's over the years, and over time, swaps happen.

You sure you don't have my old cherokee??
I know for sure I did the same kind of swap on the front 44 of it cause one of the spindles was toast but I needed it back on the road asap and had another good one laying around, just used different bearings.
