Pulling my GW out of the dirt

My '88 GW has been sitting in my back yard for quite a while and does not start. I'm having it towed to a mechanic to get it running but first I have to get it to the driveway where we can put it on a flatbed.

I plan on pulling the GW out of it's spot and to a downward slope where I can coast to the driveway. My question is where do I best attach the tow chain without damaging the vehicle?

Front spring just behind the eyes is a good spot for a light pull like this.

Also, why are you sending it to a garage to get it running?

Half the fun to do this at home

I have too many "fun" projects waiting for me to start or finish. The GW has been sitting for a few years, when I parked it it needed vacuum lines and misc. Now with the mice in the area I'm sure it needs wiring too. There is undoubtably work above my pay grade.

My wife and I are moving to Mexico in the next couple of months and I'm having the GW inspected by a mechanic to get an idea of what needs to be done so I can determine whether to repair or sell. If I keep it I'll get the important mechanical done here, import it to Mexico and have the body, interior and paint done there.

My goal is to have it looking nice and drive reliably for around town cruises on weekends.

Nice.....or just haul it to Mexico, and you can get schooled in a higher pay grade to do everything yourself

Probably find electrical work done for much less there too, if you sent it to a local mechanic after you get moved.

Perhaps you could sell it here "as is" out of your back yard, have the $$'s to move with, and save the fun for the next owner to bring it back to life

You can also wrap the chain around to the axle.
