What's the ease and/or difficulties of attempting this?...
Could a 65 body also be done on 74-79 wag/ chero frame? I think suspension wheelbase location changed during this time...?... If there is a little wheelbase difference, would a small body lift allow wheel travel clearance and brackets to adjust bodymounts?

Thanks,
Tim

The body stayed the same through the wheelbase change; there is enough room in the wheelwells to compensate.

The swap has been done before; I don't believe a body lift is necessary (though it's always nice!).

Thanks, that'll keep my options open.
Unless a decent running GW drops into availability nearby SOON, I think I'll pick the 65 up this weekend. (I'll need to see if it's got the AMC 6cyl or Kaiser.) There are a few thrashed bodies on some qt around here but most need suspension or qt repairs. I'm not into a lot of work on those, but I'll do it for the first kaiser look.

Al Metzler on the FSJ-list dropped a 64 body on an 86 or so frame. Other than having to fab his own body mounts, fuel fill etc his biggest prob I think was getting the 64 steering column to mate the newer box. He made some sort of adapter to mate the two outside the firewall.
