1970 TH400 from a Buick 350 into 1968 Super Wagoneer?

Odd question: I have a chance to pick up a rebuilt TH400 at a fair price. It is currently behind a Buick 350 in a 1970 Waggy. I have a 1968 Super Wagoneer that came stock with the 327.

Here is where it gets tricky. My Super has an AMC 360 from a late 70's Matador in it. The original TH400 was "modified" to mate to this engine. Could I drop the original tranny out and swap in this TH400? I don't know what exactly was done to make the 360 mate to the early TH400 but I guess I would think that if the TH400 from the 350 would bolt up to the 327 I should be able to make whatever parts are there work.

TIA and sorry if I am overcomplicating something here.

Early TH400 transmissions are what is called a "nailhead" bellhousing pattern.
Doesn't matter what Jeep engine it goes behind they all used an adapter.
Even the buick 350 used an adapter...

You just need the correct adapter and crank spacer.
Also be sure the tailshaft of the transmission is the correct one for your application.
