heater controls

is there a way to test the vacum opperated heater controls to see if it works without having it hooked up to the rig. thanks

Are you wanting to test the control head, or the door actuators? Or both? You could check the actuators by hooking them up to one of the nifty hand vaccum pumps like they have at some parts stores, and see if they move. If you want to test the control head, you can do the same thing, if you have a "pin out" that shows which port goes where. Put vaccum to the source and stick your finger over the hole that goes to the mode door you're trying to test for. So put your finger over the floor door when it's on heat, and see if it builds suction, and then over the defrost door when switched to defrost.
