flat top knuckles

Okay, so brief question: can I use other Dana 44 flat top knuckles on a FSJ Dana axle? I realized that I need to go high steer after driving the old girl recently and realizing she was all over the road, possibly the very loose steering box contributing to this.

Pretty sure Chevy D44 knuckles are the same.

Yes, Chevy D44 knuckles are a direct bolt on. And yes I have actually done this to the front D44 that used to be in my waggy which now resides under my dads 62 Willys wagon. We sent the knuckle to Sky Offraod for the machining.

Ford, Chev, Jeep, IH and probably Dodge seem to be swappable (they can have different caster angles though!)

For the most part this is correct, the difference I keep having to deal with is that SOME fords and SOME dodges the caliper mounts to ears cast into the knuckle instead of to a backing plate. I only know this because whichever one I happen to be scouring the junkyards for, I only find the googley-moogley other.

Fords are 5 bolt spindles, chevy's are 6 bolt and IH is oddball even more (8 bolt maybe).

Do yourself a favor and get chevy knuckles. Guranteed to fit.
