t18 input shaft bearing removal

How are you guys getting the input shaft bearing off on a T18 transmission? I tried making a puller attachment that fit into the groove on the bearing. But the bearing is so tight it just bent the attachment. To buy a puller it would have to have really long arms. What do you all use?

A cheapy harbor fright bearing puller kit (I forget which one, it has the splitter and a puller attachment) w/ some really long bolts would work. I've got it at my house. Otherwise yes, it actually is a bearing puller w/ really long arms. My buddy back home has it specifically for transmissions.

The bearing is a bit of a press fit so yeah it'll take some oomph to get it off there.

I finally got it off. I made an attachment for my puller. I put it in the groove on the bearing. Then pushed it up against the tranny. Took a wooden block and put it on the end of the input shaft. Hit it with a hammer to break it loose. Put the puller on and pulled the bearing right off.

Good Eye Ristow. It's a 71 Triumph Trailblazer. They used a rebadged BSA B25 for the engine. Gonna be another project of mine.

i had a Trailblazer i put together for Ang. she lugged it too much so a i put a military spec full roller B40 unit single (350cc) engine in it. 1st gear was walking speed. 4th was road gear. great trail setup. was licensed. sold it to an old guy on ebay. kinda miss it.

that bearing puller looks great for a home job.
