'67 Gladiator-sloppy column shift linkage
It's so bad that sometimes you can't get it in park and you may have to go down into 2 or 1 just to get it into drive and go to N to get it into reverse. I can't even get into manual 1st gear. The transmission still clicks in the detents if I crawl under and do it manually.
I had my son fiddle with the shifter while I watched the linkage at the base of the column and there's a fair amount of slop before the underhood linkage even moves. I wondered what is involved to tighten or repair this. I don't have any problem removing the column and disassembling it. It's not my DD, so I have a while to mess with it. I can't really tell what could wear out by looking at the diagram in the TSM.
