leaf spring bolt size?

as the title states, im wondering what size bolts are in my leaf springs? ive tried the search feature on here and came up with nothing.

i found one post on another site and they said 9/16 x 4.5 so i thought i would check with the FSJ gurus here to be sure as the closest likely place for me to get them is an hour away so i dont want to make two trips.

im planning to install my lift kit next weekend so i just want to be sure i got some replacements as im sure some wont come out easy...lol

its an 87 grand wagoneer.

i appologize if its a rediculous newbie question.

Thank you.

I just took a quick measurement. .575 on a dial indicator fine thread bolts with nylon nuts, but the length is 8" from bottom to top. I'm running 4" Skyjackers. Hope this helps!

the bolts are 8" long? did u measure your u-bolts or the bolts that go through the leaf spring eyes?

its the bolts that go through the eyes that i am asking about.

Almost all of the center bolts used in FSJ rear springs are 3/8" with a 9/16" fillister head. A quick substitute would be a 3/8" socket head cap screw. They have the same size head and are easier to install, due to the allen wrench socket in the head. FSJ front springs use a 3/8" bolt with a 1/2" fillister head. You could also use a socket head cap screw, but you would have to either grind down the head diameter or enlarge the hole in the axle saddle (perch) to accommodate a 9/16" bolt head.

Thanks,
Tom

I have a couple here I just peaked at, looks like 4 3/8" long so I'm sure 4 1/2" will work.
