First engine removal...

I did all that work to get the 1 tons under the Chief, and now I have decided to swap them under my newly aquired 75 Chief..

I want to keep the T-18 also, so I decide to pull the engine/tranny/case all together..

It took me just over 5 hours from start to finish. I can probably shave of about 2 hours if I ever do it again the same way... My learning curve was a bit slow at times..

Here is what came off first..

Striped down..

The shifter on the tranny made it impossible to get the combo out with the short chain that came with my hoist. I had to use another chain to gain a few extra inches. It didnt fit that good, but it was secure..

Here is how it sits now...

Anyone need a motor? Its in the sale section...

AND.. It turns out, my new trailer makes a heck of a work table..

What kind of intake setup is that? Is it to pull cool air from the space in front of the windshield? Anyway - When I pulled my engine, It took about the same amount of time, but I left the transmission in and front clip on. I don't know how anyone gets those top two bolts off the bellhouseing if they don't have a body lift. And yes - trailers are awesome portable work tables. My m105 is perfect, heavy enough I can beat on stuff without it moving, even hop in and walk around if its unhooked. A little tall at about 42" bed height, but beats rolling around on the ground!

I just went from the inside just un screw that plate going over the tranny hump. the second time I pulled one I just used a 2 really long 1/2" impact extensions and my impact wrench. that took only about 5 mins.

your drivetrain looks a little more balanced then mine did when it came out.

next time just pull the entire front clip. its a lot faster.

The thin cover on the base of the shift lever comes off by pushing down and turning (like an 1157 bulb). Then pull the lever straight up and out. Don't have to take off the top cover or fight with the lever/floor.
