Unhappy

Whats going on? The wife just calls me from work and said that when she started the Chero up the Emergancy Drive light came on and the steering is real tight. I had her look to make sure that the Emergancy Drive Switch was in the correct position, which it was in the "normal mode. I had her switch it to emergancy Drive and than bad to normal again, still the same thing. What could be going on? Also is it safe to drive it on the street, she only works about 5 blocks from the house so is it safe to at least drive it that far? Thanks guys!!!

I recently discovered that it takes a vacuum line to engage E-drive AND a vacuum line to disengage E-drive.
I don't know for sure, but is it possible that when the disengage vacuum line breaks that the case has the potential to slip into the E-drive? It is easy to trace the vaccum lines to determine if there is a break.

As far as driving...last week I drove my J4000 about 30 miles at speed (from Caldwell to my house in West Boise) in E-drive with no ill-effects. I think increased wear is the major reason not to drive in E-drive....tell her to take the corners WIDE and to avoid unnecessary turns.

I'm thinking it's the vacuum line, I told her to have one of the guys at her work get under it and trace any vacuum line going to the T-case. One other thing, I posted a couple of days ago about the QT problems I'm hav'n lately maybe it just finally crapped out on me!!!! It's a good thing I have 4 cars, other wise she'd have to drive the Camaro SS, "I don't sleep good when she drives it!"

If you need to replace the T-case...let me know...I may be able to hook you up with a non-gauranteed, but next to free BW QT t-case. I'll know tomorrow.

Just a thought...
If your vac lines are "falling" off, it might be time to invest in all new ones...you know how they get brittle and stretched after a while...that's prolly why it fell off.

All my hoses are new and are in perfect condition! My Dad is a picky/neat freak and replaced EVERYTHING when he did the 401 in it. I was messing with the carb the other day, changing rods due to the warmer weather "ping" and I must have bumped it. Thanks for your help though. If you are still getting the QT and what to get rid of it let me know, I'll have it gone though and beafed up and put it in the chero when this one goes south.!!!! L8R

I'm going to show my Camaro SS at the Payette Apple Blossum Fest. Car show and decided that the Chero should be entered also. They have a 70-80 Truck class so wish me luck, I'd love to show those early 70 Chevy pickups what a real Jeep looks like! If your not busy Jode make the short drive to Payette the show starts at 10:00 and goes to 5:00 I think!

BigBadWag:

Get in line!! The funny thing is that I had just as many compliments on the Jeep as I did on the 2000 Camaro SS. However the SS is alot more fun to drive, ran it yesterday at the track(1/4 mile) for the 1st time, ran a 12.80 @ 110mph!

Sounds like that Cherokee is going down hill. I'll be glad to take it off your hands for a couple bucks.

Agent Orange:

OK, the wife wants $8,000 for it! She says it would take that and more to get a vehicle to compare to her Jeep, I think all the compliments went to her HEAD!!!!

It would take more than $8k for me to part with mine. Especially since that's about how much I have sunk into it in the last few years including the purchase price of $700
