The floor boards changed in 1980. 79 and earlier are different. The passenger seat will bolt on, the driver side will need a space on the forward inward post. I I installed later seat rails on my 79...

This. I have done this with VW engines, too. Pallets are almost free, you probably have some ratchet straps, and when you are done, you can toss the pallet.

You can use a flex plate and starter too....

Front or rear? In 1980 the front went to driver drop and rear went to AMC 20 so that might be a difference.
