That was the typical color of chassis grease up into the '70s. My guess is that its just a good moisture resisting grease.

My recollection is the hole is for using an adapter to get the tension correct.
Perhaps the nut version is later (eg your 90) and had a different adapter...

Ignition Coil looks dark blue in photo, at least to me. Bosch replacements are that color.

I agree the radiator in the photo above may have been changed.
There are other photos with that angled tank top radiator but maybe it was just a common aftermarket replacement. :huh:
