Have you put a vacuum gauge on it? If not, hook one up to a manifold (vac all the time) port and see what you get. You may have a vacuum leak somewhere.

Factory type of paint for 73? Lacquer?

What kind of paint did the factory use in 70's? Was it lacquer or something else? I'm thinking of painting my 73 next year but wouldn't be taking it down to bare metal or anyhting fancy like that....

Sorry for the late reply...... no, the compensator is in the front corner of the carb if its got one (yours is too old I think), and I believe they came in the qjets before they went electric...

Could be someone put the wrong part in the box or it was mis-listed, as in the seller didnt do their homework on what rig they fit.
Im pretty cheap, but life has taught me to go oem or good quality...

Did the hacker change the frame mounts? If not, the correct v8 frame horns will be different - yes.

Not sure on the frame holes for the tranny x-member, but if you mock it up it should be obvious....

Just a hole in the liner under the light. Wires run up inside the drivers door post and along (behind?) the roof brace. That's on a 73, though.
