If anybody swapped to the 6x5.5 or put in upgrade axle shafts on their early (pre-'74) Wagoneers, I may be interested. I just want stock--I don't want the wimpy shafts that are prone to breaking (I...

I'd go Quadratrac or Dana 20. Or you should be able to get a cheap pass drop part-time case (which is what you want for a daily driver). That does mean swapping the rear axle still though.

Probably...

Email sent, JPSwapMohn. Like with Cliff, it wouldn't be terribly shocking if it went to junk.

Will send pics when I get a chance this weekend.

The plastic is all good and it still retracts perfectly. I don't have the mounts anymore, is the only thing missing.

Most new bike racks already come up a lot--not sure you'd have to worry about it much. I'd actually run it upside down if anything, so that I can access the back. Just, no A/C, so if I get groceries...

The stock flares on an early XJ will work ok for the back. Not sure how you would want to tackle the front though.

That's awesome! I've always liked the red/white combo on classic trucks (mostly IH and Jeep), especially with fall foliage around it, or at least in the woods. Looks like trouble waiting to happen ;)

FSJ Bike Racks

So, being into MTB and just cycling in general, I've been trying to find a good bike rack for a FSJ, especially the Wagoneer/Cherokee (both because I have one and because there's no bed to just set...

I don't know that they ever had 16s with the 6x5.5 lug patterns on the Jeeps. Anything with a 16" would be a 3/4 ton and thus be 8 lug. Maybe I'm wrong but I haven't seen reference to stock 16s on...

It was mid-'78 I think. You just have to look and see--if there are two bolts on the latch plate then it's the late one, if it has three, it's the early one. The early ones are usually body color;...
