You probably wouldn't notice the shock missing, until you have to make a sudden stop or swerve to miss a car pulling out in front of you. I'd fix it.

And for a limited slip rear end use 80W-90 and add a tube of K&W Limited slip additive. (85w90, 75w90, and 80w90 are all fine to use)
