Uum, is that the tie rod:confused: mine look different:D Oh, I think I see the rod under all of that dirt.
You wouldn't want to get rid of that dirty old looking winch would you:D

J2000 Hybrid

Pulled the (Gack! Cough! Hurl!) spreadbore Holley out and installed a new Jet rebuilt Quadrajet on the Buick 350.

YEAH MAN!!!!!!!!!!

Now it's a hybrid - Burns gas AND rubber!

I checked all the fluids and add a couple fire extinguishers, then got bored and hacked in some hood louvers. Lastly, I hit 55 for a few seconds. I'm still alive too which is impressive given how bad the thing was vibrating. Something to figure out next year...

Oh yeah.. Also cleaned up the instrument cluster and cut out a piece of plexiglass to replace the lenses. Painted with duplicolor bedliner spray..

It's off to storage this week.

kwai 03-16-2010 12:32 AM

front and rear brakes, master cylinder, brake hoses, shocks, steering stabilizer. More parts on the way for next weekend.

HD_JEEP 03-16-2010 10:26 AM

Donor fender from my 83 Brougham parts jeep. :o

Now she has a sad face. This hurts me more than her...:(

I ran a 1/2 can of Seafoam through the carb, hope this helps with what I think might be some condensation in the fuel tank. Smoked like the devil after I did it. Time will tell.

Also got out a few rattle cans of paint.

Did some painting on the tailgate too:

cleanup after last week's BAJA TREK. I somehow managed to lose a front hub flange cover... guess it rattled off.

I finally got the rest of the 38's on, need some more lift in the back to fit them though, started bolting the entire front clip back on and also started hooking up some wiring.

I started two threads that I could use some opinions on. First one is in regards to the core support body bushings... http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/showthread.php?t=118983 , second one is about hooking up factory wiring to the Chevy 350 swap I did... http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/showthread.php?t=118995

Lastly, here is a pic of where we are as of today...

janie 03-21-2010 04:13 PM

Well had some good and bad point to the weekend. New rear shackle set up arrived form ruff stuff. THe new front shackles form BJ's didnt but i was not expecting them too. Bought my new rear 63" springs on sat and fishined rebuilding the front axle.

Got the front axle installed on the jeep sat after noon.

(will have pics later)

All was going good up till this point. Put the axle in and tried to jack it up to get the roller tires on and the front shackle broke :( so i halfass welded it back on enough to hold the axle. :banghead:

Then we moved to the rear and the new to me springs had a crack int he main leaf from trying to impact the old bolts out  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

So the rear fabing will have to wait for new springs.....

All in all atleast i got something done this weekend and something is better then nothing in my book. Had to sit down with some of the guys who helped me after the whoel rear spring incident and have a beer to relaxe :alc:
