Looking for help to decipher my trim code

Good afternoon. I recently bought my first full size Jeep. I have a 1977 Cherokee Chief. I am trying to decipher the trim code on the data plate. My tag reads:

J104317
16 6V 6FM
VIN# 1700

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Congrats! Lots of great folks and good information on this site.

To help decode your tag head over to oljeep.com and grab the 1977 TSM, pages 6 &7 here https://oljeep.com/gw/77_tsm/01%2019...hicle%20ID.pdf will help you decode it!

Good luck!

The TSM does not contain the trim codes. You need the parts book.

1977
6FM
Models 16-17
Bucket Seats
Tan
Wellington & Italian Purse Vinyl

Dangit! :o Thought I'd been helpful. Oh well, hopefully he'll make use of the TSM as well.

Those parts books are definitely a great resource to have!
