  • Beatin' The Pig :)

First off, no email from our PETA members

We have been welding and beating on this differential all morning, a series of serious beatings mind you.

I think this will solve many doubts about perch welding and what will hold and what will not.

I got lots of pics to sort thru.

Film at 11, or when I get a chance to download and create one of those humongus JPEG files you all know and love so much.

                    great info tad!

i feel alot better about my MIG welded SUA perch now.looks like its pretty unlikely that there is enuff stress with it clamped tightly in the u bolts for it to break off.

i was alittle surprised at the results-i thot you were going to find the opposite, that the welds were going to tear out of the housing

                    great pics and writeup!

Thanks Scotty, I think you are fine, I think most folks are fine (unless your welding skills really suck), I too was surprised with the results.

Anybody need an old 2 piece 19 spline Dana44 housing with some crap welded to it and a few big dents in it?

Tadsal - righteous write-up?I wonder if the MIG would have held up better with preheating and peening, or if the result would have been the same (embrittlement)?
