  • Project WT Waggy - Part 2 - Trail Rig

Well now that she is legal and drivable its time to start the next phase. Making it into a decent trail rig. I know in part 1 I said that part 2 was going to require a loan but times got tough and a layoff last year set me back a bit financially. So part 2 is devoted to getting the WT Waggy ready for the trails here in CO and Moab.

Here is what I plan to do in part 2:

    Lift - Done!
    Axle upgrade
    rock sliders
    offroad bumpers
    selectable lockers
    NP208 swap
    tires and rims - Done!
    rear disc conversion
    razor grill conversion - Done!
    Electric fan - Done!
    Electric fuel pump - Done!
    Hydroboost - Done!
J20 Steering box upgrade - Done!
    HEI upgrade - Done!

Check out what the UPS fairy left on my door step today

Thanks to Tom over at Hell Creek for donating the $500 gift cert to the Ouray Invasion last year, which I won. I was able to get this 6" lift kit with shocks, brake lines, U-bolts and drop pitman for only $444.01. That includes shipping.

Scott. those are nice. Did not realize you had done the W/T Wagoneer thing. What flares did you use on the rear. I got the W/T axles under my 89 Wagon and am going to put the early xj flares front and rear and going to use 9.5x33 tires.

Well I have not been able to get to the lift yet. Still trying to get the issues with MPG figured out. However, I did work on the grill conversion. I need to find the bar that goes across the front of the hood. What do ya think?

                Update

                Update:
Filled up for the first time since I replaced the powervalve and I am happy to report I got 11mpg (all city driving). I was getting 8... I can live with 11+
Installed hood bar to complete razor grille conversion

                Purchased:
                New black rims
                Set of used 35" MTR
New fuel sending unit will be here tomorrow
Put a cliffhanger rear bumper w/swing tire carrier on layaway at BJ's
HP Driverdrop 8 Lug Dana 44 4.10 gears (Free)
LP Driverdrop 8 Lug Dana 44 gears unknown (Free)
                FF Dana 60 4.10 gears $70

                Coming soon:
                6" swaybar disconnects
                New fuel filler hoses

                Next Projects:
Now that the fuel mileage is figured out I am hoping to start on the lift.

I would also like to start reconditioning the hp 44 and dana 60 axles and get them ready to run. (lockers, rear disc conversion)

                      Lift complete

After a vacation and a couple of work trips I finally got around to installing the lift. Things went surprising well EXCEPT I realized after I dropped the gas tank to get to the bolt that I didn't need to. There was a captive nut on the other side.

Anyway, let me know what you guys think!

Lift is underway, no turning back!

                      Rear springs are in.

                      Another rear view.

                      Rear with old 31" tires.

Front springs are in, still have old 31's. Look that that clearance

                      Before:

After: 6" lift and 35's. Picked up some used tires for cheap until I can afford new.

                      Before:

                      After:

                      Baby got back!

Man it looked great before, it looks "Right" now.
I remember when you found that thing with the faded for sale sign in it.
6" lift looks right on the WT. I sure do wish that conversion was available out there somewhere..

Looks great, keep us posted on the axles.
One day I will wake up and realize that my jeep is complete...one day, I just know it.

Thanks guys, I like it too! Drove into work today and everything seemed good, no drive line vibration. I noticed a small 1 drop brake leak on the rear line but I should be able to fix that.
