  • Holley ORA setup

Anyone have a pic of the throttle cable setup for a Holly Avenger on a 360? I have one in my shop just sitting there calling my name.

This one had been used for about a year on an old Ford. It looks fresh, should I rebuild it or?

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I'm about to circular file my 4300. I think I'm going to have to rebuild the Holly, it's been sitting around in a dusty situation and the kid who took it off left it uncovered. I just dumped a bit of really nasty old gas out of it, you know the smell.

I downloaded the install info from Holly. This is one nice carb compared to the 4300. Adjustable floats with clear port holes to check, really tunable

This carb was only on the Ford for a year or so. Any suggestions short of a total rebuild?

get a set of bowl/block gaskets. pop the bowls and metering blocks off. if look ok just blast all the various passages with carb cleaner. also blast the air bleeds on top of each barrel. put a fresh powervalve in,verify the jet #'s in case you need to rejet-you'll know what you currently have-and button it back up.

That is most definitely better than a complete rebuild. Man that old gas was super stinky. The smell is still hanging around the shop.

From the pics it looks like you didn't have to modify the stock throttle cable brackets and you got the cruse control chain on ok?

i extended the cruise chain with a piece from a parts truck. the early hole throttle cable bracket is nice to have, but you can mod the later one. use the chrysler throttle arm bracket adaoter from holly. i mean holley.

Well, today is my lucky day. I have both kinds of brackets as I have a complete 1974 manifold and a couple 89's.

I'm using the newer cruise bracket with the older throttle bracket in combo.

                  Thanks

Those are some really intense springs, you got a heavy foot?

those springs are actually pretty mellow, with a smooth pull. and they're in front of the cable pulling against just it,so they don't contribute to shaft wear.

Can you post a pic of the brackets you used and how you have things set up?

Well this is interesting. I was looking for Ristow's pic today and found that someone wants my pics. I am photobucket challenged but I am going to try again.

But not today. I just swapped brackets till they set up ok for hooking up the cruise control too.

Serendipity, I just picked up my new Holley 470 today at the post office.
I am so stoked to get rid of my 4300. I still have the 670 cfm one, but that is going back on the High Boy's new 360.

I'm watching the installation DVD simultainiously as I'm typing this. It looks like I can swap some other stuff on the throttle as well, we will see.

BTW - I am stoked at Amazon.com. I got a super deal on this Holley. They have all the Holley parts and carbs with free shipping.
