• Pictures needed, throttle cable hookup carter

Can someone post me some pictures of the throttle cable hookup for a Carter carburetor it would be appreciated. Most interested in the part of the cable hooked to the carburetor area.
    Thanks

Some where in my stuff at home, I have pictures of this that were sent to me by other members when I was setting up my Carter last year. I'll see if I can find them tonight Rick.

There is a Edelbrock part that you add to the carb for Chryco type throttle linkage (includes FSJs) to connect to also. More on this later...

        Flint,
Thanks. I'll check the email you sent when I get into work tomorrow AM.

I did get the throttle ball kit.
It appears that the stock throttle cable is a tad short. I'll be interested to see what part you are talking about. Remember I am a standard shift where I think you are auto.
        Thanks again

Here's a shot of it complete:

and here's a shot of the measurement I used to adapt the stock throttle-cable bracket and cable:

I also have more information on the throttle-bracket on the following page:

          http://www.drbob.tqhosting.com/tech/carb/edelbrock2.htm

It's an Edelbrock Performer carb with the Chevy-style throttle-arm, which should be the same as your AFB

              Welcome Rick!

Bob, my throttle cable was in too much of a bind hooked up like that, so I got the Chryco adapter that mounts on the plate where your cable hooks up. The parts were very reasonable to buy. Now the place that used to stock a good variety of Edelbrock parts in Cortez is out of business...

                </font>
I thought you had a stick Rick... So, you have less to mate up. I tried moving the mount for the end of the throttle cable but ended up mounting it in stock location where the cable is in far less of a bind. Guess I could get some pix of my own setup too. Good luck on the upgrade!

I bought a universal throttle cable adapter for my Edelbrock and it got rid of the throttle cable binding problem. It mounts to the left rear carb bolt and is adjustable up/down- forward/aft. I think it cost about $4. I also bought a different throttle "ball" and all is well with my set-up.

It wasn't an Edelbrock kit but just one they had at my local (non-chain) parts store with all the carb accessories.
