  • ACCESSORIES ON WHEN KEY IS OFF

My 82 J10 has had an issue with the wipers, heater, etc remaining on when the key is off. I assumed it was the ignition switch (the electrical switch on the column under the dash) so I replaced it but no change. I can't think of anything else that would cause the accessories to be powered with the key off. Does anyone have any experience with this one?

    Thanks
    Dan

That's weird. Are you sure the ignition is wired correctly?

Unless the problem existed previously to the replacement?

Yes I moved to switch manually and no matter where I put it same issue. This issue existed before I install the switch.

adjusting the switch on the column is a b##ch... the TSM gives you directions weather you have tilt or no tilt column because the switches are different... and install differently...

for years I did not have the accessory position nor had the cranking (I installed a bypass switch)... finally one day I moved the switch along the column a smidge, up then down... and all is good...

take a peek at the TSM on tom's site, scroll to your year model
