I figured it out. I compared my current clutch linkage to a pic in my manual and the clutch pedal rod to the bell crank is the issue. It's too short and welded together not allowing for any adjustment besides the clutch fork pushrod.

I have new rods coming from ebay. This will allow me to get the bell crank geometry correct and provide adjustment of that rod. It should feel correct again. Hard to explain, but it's never felt quite right.

My 81 Cherokee is a factory 4 speed it originally came with the T-176. It has been replaced with the T-18.

Would there be any difference in the bell cranks? or Bellhousings?
