    • Last ride of the season

Last drive before winter storage and added Stabil to the fuel tank and drove it about 60 miles just to make sure some of the stabilized fuel made it into the fuel bowl.

      • Discovered the distributor turns at a rate which may or may not be proportional to the crank. This is not good.

Proper grammar dictates the question is "may I borrow your BFH?" To which I answer "yes, you may, no take the bigger one, you'll need it".

          • bell housing for ole mule.

Found T-176 housing at Happy Trails. Drill and tap tonight, dropping tranny and swap bells. I may add a flex tube and zerk to grease the throw out bearing. Just got to get new linkage and clutch assy.
Question: Should I go hydraulic on clutch?

The crank turns twice for the distributor once
Jeep gauges are for amusement only. Any correlation between them and reality is purely coincidental.

              • I addressed the rusted out bottom of the passenger side B-pillar, which looked like this:

After some cutting, wire brushing, sanding, painting, more cutting, hammering, welding, and grinding, it looked like this:

Then I primed and painted it, and put the door back on. I already did the driver's side but that wasn't quite as bad. I drilled a 3/8" hole in the bottom of both pillars to help them drain, water easily gets in there and how Jeep neglected to put a big drain in there is beyond me. The blue Wagoneer is definitely getting drain holes there too because it has the sunroof with the drains going into the B-pillars!

The next day my friend helped me cut out the rusted crap on the driver's floor, and I welded in the patch panel. I need to get more sheet metal to fill in the area around the patch panel, it was pretty rusted. Weird how two inches away from where there was no floor left, the floor could be perfectly solid with shiny clean original paint that looked brand new.

Then yesterday I took off my Swampers and put my 32" tires back on. The Swampers need inner tubes, they're so old they keep going flat at random rates. I'd like to get a hold of some 9.00-r16 Power King tires or something in that size that would be good for the snow, they'd fit perfect with the 16x7 rims I found on ebay.

                • Alot!

Finally had time/money in conjunction to maybe (fingers crossed) get the Cherk on the road again. (Home/Family reorganization)
New Timing set, Distributor and gaskets
Unfortunately, butterfingers + step ladder=new timing cover en route from BJ's
Hopefully that gets here soon, and Big Iron can be mobile again!

Maybe that's what yours does, but that's not what mine is doing. Last full 360 degrees of crank rotation resulted in zero degrees of distributor rotation. Pretty sure this is going to net me pulling the grill, radiator, accessories, rockers/push-rods and cam just to find out where the problem is - it's not the distributor, already pulled that.

STA also has some 9.00-16 bias ply tires in a retro-looking pattern:

Might (or might not) be a little better in snow than the directional Power King.

                      • Yea, those are what I want, just not feeling the $250 per tire price tag, a little out of my budget. Maybe I'll stumble across some good used ones.

1)Pull distributor and check gear pin not broken or missing.
                            2) look down distributer tube and crank motor. Make sure gear is turning. If not You may as well pull the oil pan and dump out the bits and pieces.
                            3) replace distributor and make sure its seated and see if the distributer post turns.
                            4) pray and roll it over.

This weekend I pulled the timing cover. Next weekend I hope to pit it back together.
