  • Anybody have their windshield out?

Mine's always had this draft in the lower corners of the windshield, and while the windshield was our, we saw that there were holes there going into the cowl. If anybody has their windshield out and can get pictures of those corners (inside the channel, where the gasket covers it), that would be much appreciated. This windshield is gonna be coming back out, as the lower corners (not that draft) slowly leak water...and they need to not leak lol.

Those air drafts blow the rain water into my face though, and I put napkins there, but while the windshield is out I want to make sure I get those drafts plugged. They're very cold in the winter, too.

The windshield is out of my 73' j4000
And there are no holes anywhere that go into the rain gutters.
there were some small rust holes but they are gone now.

It's best that you cover the holes with something!
You could cut some round patches from sheet metal and glue them on with body adhesive.

That is what I did with some big holes that didn't got used for the wiring harness.
It looks professional that way and it's still possible to open up when needed.

You can send me a pm with your email address and I take some photos of those corners for you!

I made some ABS plugs for those holes and glued them in with sillycone or panel adhesive leaving just a tiny space at the bottom for any condensation to drain out. Inside the cowl I made some plugs and glued them up in there. I don't remember if the two areas I plugged were directly connected but I don't think so. There's several cavities in the body back there since the pillar is several layers. I think the cowl cavity was connected with the roof area and had a big plug of Bondo-like stuff that fell out.

Thanks, guys. Heep J4000, I'll shoot you an email. Assuming I find what I expect, I'll probably go the same route you did SJTD.

I had another look at the area's under the dash and on both sides above the ventilation openings there are two big holes.
on the left side the antenna wire went through one of them and the others were always open.
I'm probably going to close them up now sierrablue mentioned them!
The heating system of the full size jeeps aren't that great ,so having holes everywhere isn't going to help to get the cab warm and defogging the windscreen.

I did take some pictures for you sierrablue , so you can compare.

Awesome, thank you. Those ones under the dash aren't an issue--they're in the actual channel for the windshield, next to the dash pad I can better explain with pictures lol
