  • Sitting Bull's Crackpipe

    Hi, Folks.

The Crackpipe build threads are old threads, but the photos have disappeared. He put a YJ tub onto a Waggy chassis, and he might have bobbed the tub and fabbed a shortbed behind it. Does anyone have any photos from or of that build? I am building something similar and would really like to see how Sitting Bull approached his build.

    Thanks in advance.

Yeah, thanks, that's it, and I've found those threads....but the photos have all disappeared. Well, for sure I can't see the photos in any of those threads. Do the photos appear for you?

No pics in first thread, can't pull up the second.

Might be he used PB before that fiasco.

Thanks, Hammer. I figure you're right about Photobucket. I'm just hopeful someone, somewhere has a few photos of this vehicle that they might be willing to share or re-post. For that matter, I'm interested in any photos of a similar YJ body/pickup on a FSJ frame.

          All the best.

He didn't use photobucket....the pics were hosted on http://gfsj.org a site that appears to be gone now.

Did manage to locate copies on the internet archive wayback machine site

Babywag...those photos are EXACTLY what I was hoping to find! Many thanks. That vehicle looks tremendous. Even the color is similar to what I have in mind for mine. The big difference is I'm planning a bobbed tub with a separate short bed behind it. Where can I track down more photos from the Crackpipe build? Especially interested in photos of frame, etc., from various point during the build.

              Many thanks, again.

                https://archive.org/web/

the archive is hit/miss not everything gets archived.
his pics were archived one time in 2012

Here is a list from archive

That was very helpful, Babywag. Thanks. I had previously gone to the Wayback and did a search for Crackpipe and Sitting Bull, but it turned up nothing. Not sure why, but you found what I needed. I was able to download the other photos of interest, such as how he relocated his motor mounts, etc.

Thanks, again. I'll probably post a build thread of my own for this project.

                  All the best.

I had plans for a project something like this. Basically it was the same but I intended to use a CJ2A as the body style. I had a scrap CJ2A body that I planned to use as data to fabricate a new one.

                        ThreePiece,

Yeah, it has been a fun project so far. I'm simultaneously converting it to an AX15 5-speed. Your link to the hybrid shortbed pickup on a Waggy frame looks interesting. I'm going to review each page of your build thread for it. Thanks for the info.

As I was looking over the pictures of the crackpipe Jeep I thought of my frame. It probably would make an excellent candidate for a modification like this. My plan was to cut the entire floor off of a Wagoneer body and build a custom upper portion on the original floor.

I now have the GW body off the chassis, the tranny and transfer case out, fuel tank out, and exhaust etc. off on my project. Am stripping and refinishing the frame and suspension and axles. Will next clean up the engine and replace all accessories, ignition, carb/intake, etc. Have accumulated the bellhousing, throwout arm, external slave and lines and master, flywheel and pilot bushing needed to swap on the AX15 and NP231. After that I will move the motor mounts back 6" or so and then drop the YJ body onto the frame to begin mocking everything in. I will start a dedicated build thread, complete with plenty of photos, in the near future. Threepiece, I hope you soon get started on something similar with your chassis, too.

                            All the best.
