Proving yet AGAIN - It's not mine until I bleed on it. Again, and again.
Dammit Jim ! I need a doctor!!

Todays "haul" of deliveries...
First a big shout out to 78 Widetrac. THANK YOU for the arm rest clips!
Other stuff.. planning book for out RT 66 trip.
Headlight repair part for damaged connector.
AND a tool for installing the headlight switch.
[/IMG]
Started working on the door panels..
As you can see - They are a bit of a mess right now.
Get out the tools, glue, and Patiance !
Hmm, the pick tool is very sharp on the pointy end. Dammit.
[/IMG]
After MUCH stretching and pulling, and rolling... I got the flat parts to lay down reasonably well.
The center part? Not so much. It is 3 thicknesses and cannot be pulled/stretch tight. Going to have to come up with plan B
[/IMG]
After that, straighten the retention pins out, and line them up with the holes again.
Sounds easy enough? Well .... Hmmm.
[/IMG]
Then flip the door panel over, and tap the tabs over for retention.
[/IMG]
Then, after that, realize I will have to remove the chrome AGAIN
Duh. I have to dye it!
It's not yours 'til ya bleed on it . . .

This is the poorly molded carpet in the rear kickup area, driver side.
[/IMG]
BJs Off Road got me a replacement - and quickly.
Looks MUCH better!
[/IMG]
So, pulled out the bad, and installed the new.
Lots of fitting and trimming. MUCH better fit.
Uh, WATCH your fingers when using a razor knife.
[/IMG]
Preparing for the inner carpet/sill protector install.
Decide I shouldn't do this until I get the seat tracks designed/ fabricated, installed.
However, I noticed the amp feed wire was too close for comfort to where the screws would be going.
Rerouted the wire inboard to assure no screw will go through this direct to the battery wire!
[/IMG]
Last up - A bit of sillness...
It's been named, but not sure I want to leave this in place...
Thoughts ??

These bfg k02 are going to look awesome on your Jeep!
Had the same on my j4000 for a couple of years.
You probably need a good amount of balance lead to get them straight and wobble free!
99' Dodge ram 2500 4x4 crew cab 5.9 Cummins ,backup work truck for now
73' Jeep J4000 (named Heep or Desert Dragon) amc 360 V8 converted to LPG with T15/D20 (was my daily work truck for thirteen years and is getting major overhaul at the moment!)
80' Jeep cj5 350 V8 Chevy/sm420/D300 project
70/71 Jeep J4000 parts truck with Buick 350
Former vehicles:
85' Volkswagen caddy mk1 1.6 diesel.
83 Toyota land cruiser BJ42 3.4 diesel.
It's been named, but not sure I want to leave this in place...

If you like it keep it!
Maybe it depends on who named it!?
My 73' j4000 did got two names through its life
One was still written on when I purchased it , but with rebuild and new paint it's name didn't fit anymore and I never could come up with another name for it.

You're welcome for the clips. I'm excited to see the jeep with the new rubber on those nicely polished factory chrome spokes. I'm looking forward to the front seat edition of this build too.
I hope the Great Pumpkin is ready for a cruise soon.

Thanks! I am excited too!
Didn't get the tires mounted - yet.
And the center caps are out for repaint touchup.
New lug nuts are ready!
I too am anxious to see those on the Jeep.
( Like the name, just not sure the label is staying ! )
Today was slow...
Very hot and humid.
So decided to take on the tail light upgrade.
I bought the BJs LED conversion some time ago...
Been sitting in the box for a couple years now.
Instructions are very "general"
Removed taillight housings.
Pry out the old bulb mounting socket assembly.
Stated it's "easy" to remove. Not so much.
I had to use Channel Locks and pry it. Then used a screwdriver to finish it off.
They don't mention the new connector will not fit through the housing hole. You have to unpin it and feed the wires through, then reinstall into connector.
[/IMG]
Then there's the "fit'
They didn't!
It appeared they should fit down between the housing "walls"
Nope. Too wide?
The mounting is a grommet and screw that fit into the housing hole.
If you forced this down, it would break the board.
[/IMG]
Inspection of the circuit board showed no circuits at the ends..
So out comes the Dremel tool. Ground each end some so it could fit down into the housing.
Off by a bit!
Removed maybe 1/16" on each end.
[/IMG]
Once it fit into the housing, I bolted it into place.
Note, the rubber grommet does not seal at the back of the housing.
So, I added a bit of Goop to seal the washer from the top at least.
[/IMG]
Installed and tested..
Note, the led is now seated into the housing.

On the front hubs, are they painted black? They caps look empty and when I go back to older pictures, I don't see much in there. When are the rear center caps going on?
The S Badges look better than new! I absolutely love the red you put on the headdress!

Thank you!
Starting to see the end.. for now anyway!
The rear center caps are out for paint...
And - The hubs?
I came up with an "Art Project" for Tyler...
So, we'll see what they look like soon -ish.
