That looks black cherry to me! Did you re-clear coat the wheels? Is that the original paint?! Wish mine was that clean!

If its not too much trouble, can you post your process you used. Maybe part number or type of brass brush, and clear coat?

            Bit of Info

It's Maaco single stage Black Cherry paint. It's been fun driving it, the only compliment I got on the road was from an early 90's cutlass station wagon driver, it's a woody thing . When parked lot's of people tell me how they are tanks and can handle anything.
The wheels took a total of 11hrs between the removal of the old paint and repainting and polishing the center caps and remounting them. I did it over winter break.
Step 1: lightly use the brass wire wheel going with the machining of the wheel. Use no pressure and stay till the metal looks clean. If you push too hard the brass will start to cut the Aluminum and it won't look as good..... Wonder how I know that
            [IMG][/IMG]
Step 2: I mounted the center caps. All the screws were seized so I snapped them and clocked the center cap and made new holes and tapped them.
            [IMG][/IMG]
Step 3: Then used 1/4 20 SS allen bolts to mount the center caps.

Step 4: removed the center caps and sprayed with Rustoleum Crystal Clear Paint with two coats waiting one hour between coats. Let dry over night and then got the new tires.
            [IMG][/IMG]

The brass brush was i believe just a standard Brass sanding wire wheel. The bristles were thicker and the center was hollow. I just grabbed what i saw in the drawer and tried it. Luckily it worked out

It's confusing cause at night it looks black, It's a single stage black cherry metallic Maaco paint job courtesy of the PO. My diving into the Jeeps makes me suspect the front passenger door was hit and repaired so they did a full shoot so that they did not have to try to match the new paint to the older oxidized factory paint

Sorry but I scrapped the side steps, they were the type you see on the early 90's conversion cans. nothing special at least to me and with the spring sag my jeeps sat low enough without them. they were the first to go. I would give them to you if i had them.

                  Center caps?

How did you polish the center caps before mounting them?
                  Same brass brush?

Did you spray them with clear coat also?

I just polished them an hour a piece if not more with some mothers aluminum polish. I know they are not bare aluminum but Mothers polish can make any shiny surface look good with patience and after an hour or so and a few sore fingers..The directions suggest using a rag but i feel using your finger keeps the polish on the metal and lets it work better. I usually put a movie in and grab the piece to polish and get to work. it's slow and tedious but it pays off. Just beware of white doors during bathroom breaks. And no I didn't paint the center caps. I figured they're not painted from the factory so why paint it. i think it's chrome plated anyway.

Decided to waster $40 and make my exhaust a bit louder. Have a few pics of what I used and two short videos to hear the difference.

                        Tired Of Maaco

I decided I'm tired of my Maaco paint job, it's peeling at all edges and looks like crap, So i'm painting my truck and changing the color as I go. I'm painting the Wag, dubbed "Walter" by a friend, to light blue. I am using Rustoleum hammered paint, for a more durable finish as well as a more aggressive look. here are some pics

                        [IMG][/IMG]

Cleaned up the rear trim as well

                        [IMG][/IMG]

                        [IMG][/IMG]

                        Need to refinish my screws

                        [IMG][/IMG]

                        [IMG][/IMG]

I need to finish by the 23rd for a car show i'm going to.

Is that just a rattle can paint job? looks pretty good, I can see a run on the gate but looks pretty darn good.

                              Yep

Yeah it's a rattle job, The runs in the paint are from the Maaco job, spent three hours sanding the tailgate and it was still there Decided it was a rattle job so it won't be perfect anyway so i sprayed it. Slowly working around the truck one panel at a time masking everything off, sanding, and removing the trimmings. The bubbles in the one picture is because it rained an hour or so after I finished painting the tailgate, luckily it had no effect on the finish.

That blue looks pretty good! I did a rattle can job on my waggy using about 4 coats. The coats are thinner from a rattle can. How many on yours? Replaced my cat, midpipe and put on a Cherry Bomb like yours but mine had a lower, more mellow tone. I sure miss my baby.
