    I tried the contact paper reskin before. Got it to match, but couldn't get it to bend and around the wheels so that the grain would follow the contour. So I gave up on that idea.

      Seats are almost done. Just need to finish up the interior carpet before I can install them.

      Very happy with the way these turned out. They are Katzkin covers with cord inserts and I used the same carpet I used in the Jeep for the backs and bottoms. Also added heated pads to them.

      I'll get better pics, included the back seat when I can.

      I didn't do the center armrest for the front seat (I bought these covers from somebody that decided not to use them, but didn't include the armrest). I'm putting one of my center consoles in anyway, so wasn't too concerned about it.

        Beautiful, cheers to your hard work... what kind of polishing accessory/compound did you use for the grille and the bumper, that is quite some blink, blink!


        Good find on the carpeting, I have some generic automotive carpeting in the cargo area, it was blue but has not been UV resistant, it has some serious bleached patches.

        74 wag, 349Kmiles on original ticker/trany, except for the rust. Will it make it to the next get together without a rebuilt? Status: needs a new body.

          NGL I'd have left it as it was when I got it, but it looks really good! I didn't expect that much improvement over how it looked when you got it.

          I can only imagine how nice it is to have that new carpet and such--the '88 carpet was pretty much toast and the '71 is totally different.

          Keep up the good work!

          BTW, do you own anything else? Or just 5 Grand Wagoneers?

            Thanks. I used jeweler's rough on the chrome and stainless pieces. Makes them shine nice. I had some rust on my gear shift lever, and used it on there. Took the rust right off.

              This it the first one I've had to do so much to when when I got it. They're getting older and harder to find, so more work seems to be the norm now.

              Yes, I have other vehicles. My HOA LOVES me!
