The floor rusts a lot due to the dash and windshield leaking.
Then the water sits trapped in the old jute sound pads. Rust loves that!
Also the cowl vents.... Be sure to clean those out.
If at all possible, pull the dash and reseal EVERY seam.
I know, I know.. Total pita to do this.
BUT - I couldn't believe how many leak paths I found in the body. YIKES.
I water tested for days and kept finding leaks. Probably missed a few small ones!
But - I feel the Jeep has a fighting chance now to NOT trap water under the carpets and rust again.
I used Eastwood brushable seam sealer.. and seam "caulk"
Not too expensive at all. The rear wheel wells also let a lot of water in.
Went over every weld seam and repair area.
