At least you are working on a Jeep. I have been stuck on a building for the last week. Probably another two weeks in front of me. Good to hear you are fixing some important stuff. Now be careful. We need you intact for the J truck build.

X 2 for what Al said, I have a new engine out in the shop and all the stuff I need to get back to work on the jeep(s), but I also have two flowbacks and a shutdown going at work and we just bought another million barrels of crude out in West Texas, glad I like being busy better than being broke. Watch those evil drill handles, they will turn on ya every time.

I've had a few LJ's (and TJ's) so I'm familiar with the steering shaft. Can't say I've seen one actually go bad though. Don't forget to check with Flaming River and Borgeson when shaft shopping.
1974 Cherokee S. It's driving but needs more work. As usual!
It was just the u-joint in the lower shaft. Can't complain too much. The jeep has 78k + driven mi,es and more than 50kmiles being towed. That and a 6 inch lift and 315x75 tires will takes its toll.
To the subject: today I actually got back on the truck--kind of. Took the bed to get acid dipped. Decided to do that before any kind of body work so I could actually see the rust I want to replace.

Got the bed back from the dipper and shot a coat of "kill-you-if-you-breath-it" primer. Looked in pretty good shape until the primer showed all of the stuff that needs work. I foresee many hours of pounding and tapping and SANDING.

Haven't checked in here for awhile. Truck is looking good!
Also glad to hear you got the overheating fixed! Eric at Novak is a great guy. Several- no, many years back- I sent a resume to him and almost relocated to Utah to work there. Would have been a fun job!

Truck is looking great Frank. When we had our 350 rebuilt, we put in hardened valve seats for todays fuel, a roller chain and most importantly high zinc oil. I am about to do a post on the importance of Zinc in all our older motors.
There were also flat cam lobes in the motor here. Directly related to modern oils. How do yours look? Are you going to rebuild or replace?
