Made it to South Haven, MI 41 degrees, strong winds causing Lake Michigan to really pound the beach. Almost ready to head back to South Texas----Almost!
Need to get back to wrenching. Serious withdrawal going on!

Vacations are good. I hope you two are having a great time.
This makes me smile immensely. Miss talking to yo7 guys... my last final of the semester is in 35 minutes though and I get a full 2 weeks of relaxation/wrenching before I start my summer internship!

I'm convinced I'm just too dumb to know that I can't restore this old truck...

Where are you going to work? I hope it's a good gig.

At our place it was usually went something like: "We're getting an intern next week. Any ideas what to do with him?"

I'm working in the manufacturing sector for Procter & Gamble's facility in Pineville, LA (next to Alexandria). Apparently, they keep their interns pretty busy, I'm pumped!

Seems like life just keeps getting in the way. Doesn't look like I'll be able to get back on the project in any significant way until after jeeping season so Oct/Nov. Bad thing is the truck and related parts take up fully 1/2 of my shop Taking the tub off to work on my Unlimited TJ a pain!

Thanks Randy. Remember there is always a cold beer here!

Dang TJ is really cutting into my truck time. While replacing the water pump trying to cure over heating issues i decided to check the plugs. Really looked worn and one had almost no electrode left. Those are the original iridum plugs and only have about 30K on them. So I decided to do a compression check. Number 6 is about 100 lbs below the rest. Both wet and dry test.

Pulled the head. All looked good no sign of warping using a square edge. Pull the valves. No burn or warp, Seats round equal and no signs of cracking.

Pull the piston and found nothing that should not be there. Pulled the pistons on each side. All looked good. Cylinder walls still have hatchmarks and no sign or cracking under strong light.

Although the head gasket looked good it is one of those multi layered jobs and it may be one of the layers that I cant really see that well.

Called Novak about the overheating issue and after over two years they are shipping me a new radiator and shroud on-the-house. Eric said they stopped using the supplier of the one i have. That my friends is what I call good customer service!!

All the other parts should be here tomorrow and then slap this thing back together. Maybe, just maybe I can get back on the truck this summer!!
