Newbie trying to get an FSJ back on the road

The smaller plastic one is a stock vacuum canister. I am used to seeing them about center (left -right) of the top of the firewall behind the intake, but have no experience with J-trucks, so that may be stock location for them.
The larger one looks like it may just be a replacement canister. It is possible the stock on is cracked or leaking for some reason.
Welcome to the forum, by the way, just post up and ask away if you need help. The guys and gals here have seen/ done /dealt with every problem or fix you could possibly run into, and are friendly and willing to help.
I do recommend setting up your sig (as seen on the bottom of my post) with all the pertinent info about your truck (year, engine/trans combo, any known non factory parts, ect). To get to it.....click User CP in upper left portion of the forum page, then go straight below that you will see "edit signature" click, then type whatever info in the post box like any other post.
That helps prevent a lot of questions and delays later when you ask a question. Much of these rigs is same, but some things changed from year to year, or with different engine/trans/transfer case combos.

Thanks Blazer for the welcome and info. We've only had the truck for a week, and I just want to work on it every day! Budget gets in the way of working on it that much though. I can't wait to get this beast going under its own power. I'll fill in more on the signature block as I find more details out as I dig in the truck more. Seems pretty stock from my untrained eye perspective.Chris

As quoted above, the vacuum pot is for heater and cruise control.
On the fuel tank, you will have a problem using a newer than '78? tank due to the change in the filler design. Older ones fill in the top middle left side and newer ones fill through the front left corner. Much smaller hoses too.Jeep gauges are for amusement only. Any correlation between them and reality is purely coincidental.

Update
Spent several hours on the J2600 this week. Changed the oil, new gaskets, transmission filter, fluid, and gasket, rear main, oil pressure switch, and temp switch. The rear main is still leaking. Not nearly as much as it was, but leaking none the less. Tranny looks good so far. Neither the temp switch or oil pressure switch are registering on the dash, so I guess I need to pull the dash out and check the wiring. I ordered an MTS replacement gas tank that should be here this week. I will say this, I much prefer working on TOP of the truck vice underneath it!!!! More to follow.Chris
