There's a good chance I'll be out in the 4 corners area next summer so I was thinkin why not hit up the Invasion. Assuming it's at Ouray, what are the trails like? I got a 4.5" lift for the XJ along w/33's, a pair of Aussie Lockers just gotta get arround to installing them. Ideally I'd take the J truck since it is an FSJ Invasion but it needs alot more work than the XJ. So what are the rates like at the infamous KOA I've read about Also how much of a jog is it from the trail/KOA to the gas station?

Camp ground fees are around $24. or $25. a night! Included in this of course is the showers, dish wash area and water hydrants strategical implaced plus a certain amount of security! several gas stations are with in a couple of miles. Most of the easy trails can be done with a modified stock vehicle you'll have to plan on tuning for higher altitude and make sure your cooling system is up to par.

Cool pun intended LOL We had a weird one this year, the truck never went over 200 all the way there, even when I was wailing on it going up hill in second gear towing the trailer over the 10,000 + foot passes on our way there. Then the day we were going to do Imogene it went to 200 almost right away then when we turned off onto the trail it jumped to 225. We let it sit idling to see if it would go down on it's own but, it didn't Craig poured several cans of cold stream water over it cooled it enough to open the cap it took maybe a quart of water. We decided then that since it was our ride home we were going to drop out you can read what the trip was like for the others else where. Let's just say I was kinda glad we didn't go LOL

My cooling system worked great...

The temp coming out of the A/C vents was 50 degrees, temp in the driver's seat was 70, with an outside temp of 100. Not bad for an 'ol Wag.

Actually, any stock vehicle with low-range can do every trail in Ouray with the exception of Poughkeepsie, which has one obstacle that you can't do without lockers.

My father-in-law just bought an '07 Grand Cherokee Hemi that directs you to remove the front air dam (4 quarter-turn fasteners, doable by hand) before attempting any off-roading. They just don't build 'em like they used to...

Hoot's rental Suburban or Yukon XL or whatever would've come back without those fancy running boards if he took it on the big trails though.
