So a pile of Parts axle and brake parts arrived from BJs and the running gear re-build is well underway.

I sprung for one of the Dana 44 ECTED Electric Locker's, couldn't find anyone who's already installed one to let me know what they're like so it'll be interesting to see how it works out.

The old shafts have just been used temporarily while I wait for the Dutchman shafts to arrive

I also bought one of the rear disc brake conversion kits.

There were a few "head scratching" moments, the caliper mounting plates had the mounting holes in marginally the wrong position and the central axle shaft hole was slightly too small, both easily corrected.

The biggest oddity was that when the spacer was bolted up the OE bearing retaining plate flexed and bent out of true!

After much digging around a pair of thin spacers were found inside the tube and once they were removed everything bolted up cleanly. No idea what the spacers are or what they were in there for and can find no reference to them in any manual. They also look distinctly home made! Not a problem with the conversion kit just something that needed removing from the OE axle.

Anyway, it all worked out fine and everything fits great.

Now to dismantle everything and paint the mounting hardware black. Also considering whether to paint the calipers?

More to come.

@SOLSAKS

@rang-a-stang

Thanks guys, I'll post more as it happens, OEM wheels are about to be refurbished and I've bought some "road" rubber for them in 31x10.5 (Toyo), this will mainly be to just move it around during the build. I'm waiting for my alloy "Slot Mags" to arrive and they'll get some 33x10.5 BFG TAs

Hopefully it'll be a full rolling chassis shortly and the engine/transmission/TC will be able to be fitted.

Current progress is that the Front & Rear axles are now fully rebuilt with all new bearings, brakes, diff. install kits etc.

The rear has also had a new 4.10 CWP and Dutchman Axle shafts to go with the ECTED locker and disc brake conversion.

Rolling chassis assembly should start next week then the engine will be fitted with the new transmission/QT, drive-shafts will then be made to suit due to the slightly changed location of the QT.

Also re-made a new tow-bar assembly, it may not look it, but the old one (top) had rusted so bad the metal was paper thin!

Finally had a go at trial fitting the crazy RHD steering system into the NOS shell

Wow, axles and new tow bar are looking great. That is indeed crazy to see all the extra gear to have it RHD; thanks for sharing that! Awesome score on the NOS shell as well.
