Mic and antenna placement

Does anyone have pictures of the correct set-up for factory am/fm/cb on 1978 cherokees? Specifically mic position and antenna placement.

Hi, have you managed to find anything? I am now attempting to find out exactly the same thing.
Have seen tons of pictures around the internet while searching for the answer. Not even original Jeep brochures have brought light to the problem though.

I assume you guys are talking about the AMC optional AM/FM/CB radio. If so, pretty sure the antenna is the same antenna as the AM/FM radio and should already be on your front passenger cowl. I don;t think there was a "normal" area to put the mic. I think the cord just hung under the dash and the dealer stuck a hanger for it where ever made sense. I don't have one and may be wrong, though so take that with a grain of salt.

Wow! Ask a question and get an answer 11 years later! I’ve been away from the forum for several years and just decided to jump back in today. I was surprised to see my post on the 1st page and didn’t even realize it was mine until I opened it.

My Cherokee is suffering. It’s been sitting while I drive a late model pickup for work. Selling the pickup and don’t really need to drive every day so the Cherokee is going to get some much needed love over the next few months.

Glad to see the forum is still around and I’m looking forward to benefitting from such a wealth of knowledge and experience gathered here.

Thanks Aububek for reviving the thread and rang-a-stang for bringing the knowledge!

I recently bought a magnetic mic holder

...would work great in that location
and you will not have to drill holes.
