But then I'm the guy who would rather choke down a hastily assembled PBJ than lose six minutes of my lunch hour exchanging insincere pleasantries with a "sandwich artist" and discussing in great detail how much of each item I want and gee is that low carb and well a lot of people really like the peppers and how about salt and vinegar and and and...'85 J20 Old Man Truck, bought @ 65K miles - not great, but better than walking.

High quality junk here: intro thread and slow build thread
Did you know? Willys is just Willis spelled differently, but pronounced the same. Neither Willy nor his apostrophe are involved.

I'll do pictures when I can, but this forum can be hit or miss whether it will share my photos from Google (even when I'm sharing them the right way).
Unfortunately, it's tough to photograph something when you're elbow-deep in grease, whereas getting the camera rolling for a video allows me to just do the work, and I can edit it down after I've showered.
Maybe I can grab some stills from the videos.
Anyway, next up in the video series will be the door weatherstripping, the carb rebuild, and the oil-pump replacement.1987 J-20

Latest Project on Video: Fixing my low oil-pressure readings
Getting to the point of more regularly driving this truck, and I was more and more anxious about the oil-pressure readings once I finally got to drive it enough for it to warm up.
It started out at 50psi, which is pretty good for a motor with 146,000 miles on it. But once warmed up, the needle sank lower and lower, dipping to the middle of that undefined zone at the bottom of the gauge.
So, having read the lastest advice about resolving oil-pressure issues, and knowing that marginal oil-pressure is par for the course with 360's in the mid-100k mile range, I set out to try the three most popular bits of advice:
1) Change the oil-pump
2) Change the oil-pressure sending unit
3) Run a heavier-weight oil (15W-40 or 20W-50)
That led to me making this pair of videos detailing the procedures:
Part 1- Three Futile Ways to Remedy Low Oil Pressure
(which covers rebuilding the oil-pump)
Part 2- Three Futile Ways to Remedy Low Oil Pressure
(which covers replacing the oil-pressure sending unit and testing oil-pressure with a manual gauge)
Here's a picture of her actually on the street (leaking from many orifices and seals):
If the image doesn't load, here's a link to it (this board software hasn't been nice to me lately...):
